England Awaits a Great Travel Experience
England is, and always will be, a fantastic destination. For many of us it is synonymous with a quick trip to London. When did you last go on holiday to Liverpool? To Newcastle? To Manchester? Perhaps with the exception of those who are die-hard fans of a particular Premier League football club, only a handful of people have become familiar with any other part of England than the scenery passing by on the train to London from one of the surrounding airports.

Brexit Does Not Change the Fact That the UK Is the World’s 6th Largest Economy
In recent years, Brexit has nevertheless brought the whole of England and the whole of the UK much more firmly onto our mental map, all the more reason to fly cheaply to London, Manchester, Cornwall and so on, hire a car and enjoy the beautiful, varied landscape, eat well, perhaps play a round of golf or visit some of the many impressive castles. See the coastline, as in Cornwall, eat oysters and drink dark ale or English white wine. There is in fact more to see in England, and greater diversity, than in most European countries, and we Danes feel at home linguistically, in step with the humour, and already know a good part of England’s history from home.
You Have the Whole UK at Your Feet When You Land in London
You have:
Scotland, see famous castles, fantastic golf, lovely food
Wales, with snow-capped Mount Snowdon and the most beautiful beaches
Northern Ireland, with the warmest people and unspoiled nature
and of course England, with incredible food and wine.

London Is Still a European Metropolis
Over the years London has effectively become its own country, economically as well; unemployment in the old mining towns and villages exploded after the financial crisis, while London, after a brief dip, pulled away from the rest of the country in terms of unemployment, house prices, growth and so on. Furthermore, falling airfares to and from the airports around London are also a factor in why so many choose to head to the city for a bit of weekend shopping.
As a result, there is today no international travel guide or magazine that can ignore Queen Elizabeth II’s home city. The walk from Westminster Underground station towards the London Eye is arguably Europe’s best example of a stroll that perfectly defines a great city.
Discover the Other England
But London’s very special status should not divert attention from the qualities that the rest of England has to offer. To the west lies the port city of Liverpool, which during the Industrial Revolution was one of the world’s absolute key centres of trade and industry; to the north-east are “the Geordies” of Newcastle, a former mining town that was also once a cradle of much industry. If you travel all the way down to the south, to Southampton, you can take the ferry to the Isle of Wight, where many Britons spend their summer holidays.
According to the locals, the island has always been five years behind the rest of England, but with its winding roads and long sandy beaches it has certainly retained its charm and invites relaxation in the very best English fashion. It is hard to look at England without fixating on London, but everyone should give it a try: there is a travel adventure waiting in the rest of England too. So take a look at the suggestions here for trips to England.
